Stuart Tan

This is a skills workshop — not therapy

We teach practical skills for supporting other people. This programme is not therapy or a substitute for clinical care for those who attend. It teaches skills that sit alongside professional training; it doesn't by itself qualify anyone to practise.

If you need help right now

This page is not a crisis service. If you or someone you know needs urgent support, call Samaritans of Singapore 1767 (24 hours), or 995 in an emergency.

What you'll walk away with

Three things you'll be able to do

Not theory. Skills you can use in the next conversation you have.

01

Tell the difference between supporting someone and treating them — and know when to refer on.

02

Hear and pace emotion without rushing past it or overriding it.

03

Stay steady and useful in a conversation where someone else is not.

The programme

The Seven Skills

Taught in order, in plain language, in a single morning — with room for the questions that matter to you.

1
The Line

Mental health vs. mental illness

Where the two are different, where they overlap, and why the distinction changes what you do next.

2
Building on Strength

Positive approaches to transformation

Working with what is already working in a person, instead of only fixing what looks broken.

3
The Trance

Hypnotherapy

What it is, what it isn't, and where it genuinely belongs in a supportive conversation.

4
Hearing the Feeling

Listening for emotions

Hearing what someone feels beneath the words they are using — and responding to that, not just the words.

5
Holding the Pace

Pacing emotional experiences

Staying alongside a person's emotion without rushing them past it or overriding it.

6
Reading the Room

Calibration

Reading another person's state accurately from what is observable, so your response fits the moment.

7
Staying Steady

Conversations with those who are emotionally compromised

What to say — and what to avoid — when someone is overwhelmed and cannot meet you halfway.

Who it's for

You don't need a clinical background. You do need to be around people.

A sharper practical layer alongside your clinical training — the conversational and emotional-reading skills that formal training often leaves to instinct.

In their words

What people say about working with Stuart

Real, attributed words — from Stuart's coaching and training work.

A series of incidents created concern about team communication and psychological safety. I was distracted, worried, and some of my team members were experiencing emotional burnout. By the end of our engagement, our team was hopeful and recharged — more focused, integrated and clear than ever. I'm a better leader as a result of this experience.
Michael TeohCEO, Thriving Talents
In 2024, I had one of my toughest years in business. The pressure was building up — over-worrying, stress — to the extent I couldn't even sleep. He helped me develop coping mechanisms, and more importantly a better decision-making framework for tough times, during chaos.
Dylan WongSenior Financial Services Director, IAFA
I was struggling with time management and was burnt out from wearing too many hats. He provides simple to understand methods and concept that can be applied immediately in clear phases and sections. The real value lies in his thought process and insight — I was amazed by his ability to break down complex problems into simplified, systematic solutions.
Emily CheahCEO, Panaceia
I was confused and feeling helpless in life. Afterwards, I was able to slow myself down, observe my own thoughts, and give myself more credit. Stuart is a great, approachable mentor who stimulates deeper thinking.
